Lyle - one year on

 

so its been one year since Lyle Mays passed away and the magnitude of this is best expressed in his solo recordings. I know he was a member of the Pat Metheny Group but they were a group and his contribution to that group was by no means a slight coincidence. Just listen to the solo albums and although they are a different beast altogether they give more than a fair insight into what kind of a power house of music this creature was. The first self titled disc alone can be a candidate for a desert island list any time.

it must be hard for the entire group to come to terms with such a loss - like losing a limb. But with all people I talk about who have gone I say the same thing. He's still here.
