the other night I had a dream. The search for extra-terrestrial life institute had reconfigured the way they search for signals and detected a transmission. They sent a subsequent message and we received a reply. The lines of communication had been established and a time and a date for discussion was set.
firstly, the alien race congratulated us on discovering the algorithm that is the basis of our method of transmission and how it reflected such a new and complex outlook to understanding such technology. Then they said that after monitoring the advancements on our earth for many years, this was a truly momentous step in the area of future technologies, as the science is the basis for so many elements in the science of our daily lives on our planet and is truly far reaching.
but then came the question - you've been monitoring us? For how long and why have you made no effort to communicate with us?
their response? Because of your nature. We have monitored the history of your interactions from afar on so many levels, from individually to internationally and considered them to be hostile in the least and at times devoid of any inherent logic. Plus the one time we actually came to physically investigate your planet, we found it toxic. So many of your diseases left many of us so ill that took so long for many of us to recover. Also now that you have the new technology, frankly, we are terrified with what you will do with it.
In short, we want nothing to do with you. Especially now with that crazy new plague of yours. Revel in you recent accomplishment as it is truly a monumental advancement but please, can we be blunt? Keep away from us and stay away.
