first off, what a great image. Bar Oussou packed resembling its former glory.
needless to say, the past year has been plain awful. Without going into detail but a few things have happened to me above and beyond the lock down. There were two events that gave me a point of focus before all the madness.
spoken word nights every second Monday and open mic every Tuesday. Not only two points of focus but also great moments to interact with participants and audience members alike. Made some dear friends in the process and have seen some great performances.
moreover, these two events not only represented a state of normal but serious fun, where I have had friendly chats with a whole range of amazing people and witnessed things that have sent my head spinning on high rotation setting.
and I know it is a corny platitude but you really don't miss something until it is gone. When they closed because of the virus, devastation is an understatement. I know they are doing their best to get by now they are open again by being more of a restaurant than the bar of old, but how I yearn for these two nights to return once again.
the paradox is and the thing that sucked is the very week they closed everything down I expanded my rig to enhance playing there. These two nights represented the very heart of normal for so many people.
I can only hope that we get some normal back soon.
