the container

a fortnight ago, one of the flats dropped a container off in the car park to move their stuff as they are moving out. I was coming back from the shops and the woman from the flat who was standing near the container with her male flat mate  starting yelling at me to mind my own business for what reason I have not the foggiest idea.

a few nights later I was standing on my balcony and two men were casing the container. I'm not sure if they saw me but they left in a hurry all of a sudden. The next day I bought it up with the man from the flat. Then came the questions. Why didn't you tell the estate agent? Why didn't you call the police? My response? Here's an idea; maybe buy a padlock because I have been told, in no uncertain terms, to mind my own business. He started hurling abuse and after stating one more time, just minding my own business and went back into my flat.

Later on, maybe a week and a half later late at night, someone was bashing the padlock with a hammer. Once again, they must have seen me and got out of there fast in a car.

two days later the container was removed and these two, who could give an aspirin a headache, are gone. The whole thing was just plain weird. The thing is I have gone out of my way to look out for others in the block. Why they were so hostile has got me stumped.
